on ohara wares

Ohara Wares began as a personal project.

Before this, I spent several years working hands-on with textiles. Designing textiles, making rugs, and running a small rug studio was my day job. That experience shaped how I think about materials, production, and what it actually takes to turn an idea into a physical object.

I’ve always been drawn to tattoo culture — not just the imagery, but the discipline, craft, and permanence behind it. Over time, that interest naturally crossed into textiles. I wanted to explore how tattoo-influenced artwork could exist as something functional, tactile, and meant to be lived with.

Each Ohara Wares piece is developed as a textile first. Artwork is translated into jacquard weaving so it becomes part of the fabric itself, rather than something printed on top. This approach gives the work depth, texture, and longevity.

I work closely with experienced textile partners to produce pieces in limited quantities, focusing on quality, clarity, and restraint. Ohara Wares is about making objects I’d genuinely want in my own space .. honest, considered pieces that sit between art and everyday life.
